Every provider at DLH Consulting offers telehealth appointments to residents anywhere in Massachusetts. Whether you live in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, on Cape Cod, or right here on the SouthCoast, you can receive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and therapy without traveling to our Dartmouth office.

Is Telehealth as Effective as In-Person Care?

For outpatient psychiatric care, research consistently shows equivalent outcomes between telehealth and in-person visits. Medication management in particular translates extremely well to video, because the work is a clinical conversation about symptoms, side effects, and function rather than a physical examination. Many patients report better attendance and more consistent follow-up with telehealth, which itself improves outcomes.

What You Need

  • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A private, quiet space where you can speak openly
  • Your provider’s telehealth link (found on our Providers page)

No software download is required. Our telehealth platforms run directly in your web browser. You will click your provider’s link at your appointment time and be placed in a virtual waiting room.

Massachusetts Telehealth Parity

Massachusetts law requires most insurers to cover telehealth behavioral health services at the same rate as equivalent in-person services. This means your copay for a telehealth medication management visit is typically identical to an in-office visit. Self-funded employer plans are sometimes exempt from state mandates, so confirming with your specific plan is still worthwhile. See our guide to verifying your benefits.

What Telehealth Cannot Do

Telehealth is not appropriate for psychiatric emergencies. If you are in crisis, call 911 or contact 988 directly. Certain situations also require in-person assessment, including some initial evaluations for controlled substance prescribing and any circumstance where a physical examination or laboratory monitoring is clinically indicated. Your provider will discuss this with you if it applies to your care.

Where We Serve via Telehealth

Any Massachusetts resident. Because our providers are licensed in Massachusetts, you must be physically located in Massachusetts at the time of your appointment. This includes college students attending school in state, patients who spend part of the year elsewhere while in Massachusetts, and residents of any city or town in the Commonwealth.
